Flickr Diverts Attention from Adobe


Apparently May is "mess with photographers month." Yahoo announced quite a few changes to Flickr, and a lot of photographers are now unhappy with those changes and the company that made them. 

If that weren't enough, CEO Marissa Mayer, in announcing the changes said "There's no such thing as Flickr Pro today because...there's really no such thing as professional photographers anymore." Great, Marissa, I expect all images Yahoo uses from now on will be taken by consumers with smartphones, then (so far, not happening: first image is Getty licensed, the next AP). 

I'm not a Flickr user—and never really understood why I'd want to be—so it's easy for me not to be upset with Yahoo. But judging from my In Box, Adobe is no longer visible in the dog house, it's Yahoo's turn at the front opening.
