Tokina is the T in the THK Photo Products group (Tokina, Hoya, Kenko). They specialize in high-end DSLR lenses and optics; the Tokina lens group was formed in 1981 partly by former Nikon lens designers.
Tokina tends to only offer a small number of lenses at a time (typically less than 10). Recently they’ve been in a transition between older-style lenses relying on camera focus motors and lenses with in-lens motors. Note that some lenses are also available in a “video friendly” cladding (continuous t/stop apertures and geared rings).
