I sent in my D600 for servicing excessive "dust" twice, and each time it came back and produced more spots. Both times, the Repair Invoice listed "RPL SHUTTER MECHANISM" as part of the service. After it came back the second time, I took 900 more pictures using the Interval Timer Function, and saw more spots (from the third shutter in that same camera). I called Nikon and sent them what they asked for, an unprocessed image of the sensor. After some initial push-back on their part, I argued that an unprocessed sensor image is not a fair test, since most people process their images, and the spots show up in the processed images. The next day I received a phone call telling me that they would replace my D600 with a new D610 at no cost. I now have my new D610. (bb)
